Natural Caffeine vs Synthetic Caffeine: Is There Really a Difference?

A randomized double-blind crossover trial compared 60mg caffeine from a green coffee bean extract with 60mg synthetic USP caffeine. Peak concentration and overall caffeine exposure were statistically equivalent between the products, and time to peak was similar.
The natural extract also contained chlorogenic acids from the botanical material. That illustrates the more meaningful difference: a plant extract can bring other compounds along with the caffeine.
Does natural caffeine feel smoother?
