B Vitamins and Energy: What B6 and B12 Actually Do

The short answer: vitamins B6 and B12 are important for normal metabolism and nervous-system function, but they are not stimulants. B vitamins do not work like caffeine

But the distinction is crucial: the NIH states that vitamin B12 supplementation does not appear to improve athletic performance or endurance in people who already have sufficient B12 status. In plain English, B12 supports normal function; it is not extra fuel on top of normal status.

Why B12 deficiency can cause fatigue

Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to megaloblastic anemia and neurological problems. The NIH lists tiredness and weakness among possible symptoms.
